Our “End-Times” Plan #6: Understanding the 7-year Tribulation Period

One of the THE MOST IMPORTANT events of the end-times has to do with what’s called the 7-year Tribulation Period. This is a time line that God has given to us through the scriptures. It puts everything else that is written regarding the end times in perspective. It also helps us in knowing what to expect next, which to me is very comforting.

So today, let’s seek to understand the 7-year Tribulation period as written in the New Testament of the Bible.

Here’s the verse, followed by a detailed explanation:

Daniel 9:27 (KJV)

“And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.”

Breakdown and Explanation

“He shall confirm the covenant with many for one week”

• “He” refers to a coming world leader, often identified as the Antichrist.
• “Confirm the covenant” suggests a peace treaty or agreement, involving Israel and surrounding nations.
• “One week” in biblical prophecy equals 7 years (based on the Hebrew prophetic use of “week” to mean a group of seven years, as in Daniel 9:24).
• This starts the Tribulation clock — the final 7 years before Christ’s return.

This covenant will allow Israel to rebuild the temple and resume sacrifices.

So, first off, I want you to know that the Tribulation Period as spoken of in the bible consists of 7 years. It starts when the “antichrist” (a person who we might not know yet) meets with Israel and other Middle Eastern Countries and signs a peace treaty.

We will know when this peace treaty with Israel signed is the one spoken of in the book of Daniel, if it contains two key elements:

*A period of time stated for 7 years

*Language that allows the temple to be built in Israel in the location of the

Temple Mount, where King Solomons temple once stood.

When this is signed, it will also flush out who the antichrist is, as he will be one that made this agreement possibly, and perhaps may even be one of the signers of the agreement.

This person, the antichrist, will then continue to be recognized as a world leader bring peace, and solving many world’s problems. It will be very apparent who he is, because the world will be obsesses with him, and think that he is the greatest leader ever. This is part of his deception.

When this contract is signed, this starts the clock for the final 7 year of life on earth. At the end of the 7 years period, Jesus Christ will come back to the earth in what is known as the “Second Coming”.

Knowing this timeline also gives us the “season” or even year that Jesus Christ will return. When I say this, many are quick to bring up this scripture:

Matthew 24:36 (KJV):

“But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.”

Let’s take a look at that scripture again, with the new understanding of the 7-year tribulation period defined.

“day and hour knoweth no man”

The scripture does not say year, or season, just the day nor the hour. Are you now seeing this scripture with your spiritual eyes, as intended for those who deeply study the end times? We can know of the year or season.

I am amazed at the amount of “Christian” people who think that Jesus Christ can come at any time, referencing the Second Coming. It is clear to me that these people are unfamiliar with the writings of New Testament. My response to them is, “So what is your understanding of the following events that must happen (during the Tribulation Period) before Christ returns?

Beginning of the Tribulation (First 3½ Years)

1. The Antichrist confirms a 7-year covenant with many leading to a new temple in Israel
   • Daniel 9:27 – “And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week…”
   • This is believed to begin the tribulation.
2. The rise of the Antichrist as a global leader
   • Revelation 6:2 – A rider on a white horse with a bow, representing false peace.
3. War, famine, and pestilence increase (4 Horsemen)
   • Revelation 6:3–8 – The red horse (war), black horse (famine), and pale horse (death) are released.
4. Persecution of believers begins
   • Revelation 6:9–11 – The martyrs under the altar cry out for justice.
5. Signs in the heavens and natural disasters
   • Revelation 6:12–14 – Great earthquake, the sun becomes black, the moon turns to blood, stars fall.
6. 144,000 sealed from Israel
   • Revelation 7:4 – 12,000 from each tribe of Israel are sealed for God’s protection and purpose.

Midpoint of the Tribulation (3½-Year Mark) Rapture

7. The Antichrist breaks the covenant
   • Daniel 9:27 – “…in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease…”
8. The Abomination of Desolation is set up in the temple
   • Matthew 24:15 / Daniel 11:31 – The Antichrist defiles the rebuilt temple.
9. Satan is cast down to earth and empowers the Antichrist
   • Revelation 12:9–13 – Satan loses access to heaven and persecutes Israel and believers.

Great Tribulation (Last 3½ Years)

10. Worldwide persecution intensifies
    • Matthew 24:21 – “For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning…”
11. The Two Witnesses prophesy for 1,260 days
    • Revelation 11:3 – Two prophets with power to call down plagues are eventually killed by the beast.
12. The Mark of the Beast is enforced
    • Revelation 13:16–17 – No one can buy or sell without the mark, name, or number (666).
13. Seven Trumpet Judgments
    • Revelation 8–11 – Include hail and fire, poisoned waters, demonic locusts, and massive destruction.
14. Seven Bowl (Vial) Judgments
    • Revelation 16 – Painful sores, water turns to blood, scorching sun, darkness, Armageddon prep.
15. Destruction of Mystery Babylon (false religious/political system)
    • Revelation 17–18 – The great harlot is judged and the city of Babylon falls.
16. Global war culminates at Armageddon
    • Revelation 16:16 / 19:19 – The kings of the earth gather to fight against Christ.

Many have no idea when talking about God’s Bowls of wrath nor the seven trumpet judgments. I’m saddened that most churches are not even including this in their education of its members.

I have since learned why this is the case, which has to do with churches joining the One World religion under the rule of the False Prophet and the Antichrist. It is my belief that if your church is not teaching you the details of the “End Times” they have full intent in joining this false religion that will soon come into being.

Now, If Jesus Christ could come tomorrow for His second coming, how can all of these things come to pass before He comes?

The scriptures have been given to those who seek to learn, and not just say… “No one knows when Jesus is coming back. The scriptures don’t say that.” God has provided details for those who choose to fill their lamps with oil and see what God really wants us to know.

As we break down the information which God has given to us, we can see that God has revealed His battle plan with us. He has done this so that we will know that He is in charge of the end times, and that He is in full control of what happens. We should look towards Him for answers and comfort, and not rely on political leaders.

There is a great deal of information that I have just provided to you regarding the details of the 7-year tribulation period. My intent is to show you just how many things need to happen before Christ does return. We will continue to break things down, so that you will be able to have a better understanding of what they mean.

Our study is intended to create peace and comfort and not fear. Keeping God involved in your studies, asking Him for comfort and peace will ensure that this is the case.

You can ALWAYS find Peace in Christ. Let the feelings of fear drive you to the Savior. Understand that you need Him in your life to proceed into the end times.
