A Look at Today’s News – “Biblical Prophecy: Christian Nationalists Pushing Trump to “Usher in the End Times”

As I looked at the news today, I came across this article listed in the title of this post.

Here’s a summary of the article:

“Donald Trump, who wasn’t deeply religious before entering politics, has since become heavily influenced by far-right white evangelical Christian nationalists, a core part of his MAGA base. Despite his limited biblical knowledge, many evangelicals support Trump, viewing him as a prophetic figure destined to help usher in the End Times.

The article by Amanda Marcotte (Salon, June 25) warns that these Christian nationalists are pressuring Trump to take aggressive actions in the Middle East, particularly against Iran, because they believe it will fulfill biblical prophecy leading to the return of Jesus Christ. Evangelicals have a paradoxical view of Israel—believing Jews are damned without Christ but still supporting Israel due to its prophesied role in the end-times narrative.

Marcotte suggests Trump feels trapped by this pressure, as he cannot afford to alienate his evangelical supporters, even if he’d prefer to step away from conflicts like those with Iran.”

Interpretation

Many people today are simply missing the point. The “End-Times” and “God’s Agenda” regarding what He intends to make happen, has NOTHING to do the influence of any person, politician, group, or anyone / anything else.

“God’s Timing Is Sovereign – Not Man’s Agenda”

There’s growing buzz around a deeply unsettling trend—Christian nationalists attempting to push political figures like Donald Trump into roles they claim will “usher in the End Times.” They argue that prophecy is unfolding through American politics, and that by electing certain leaders, they can accelerate God’s divine timeline. But let us be clear: God’s plan is not moved by men, political campaigns, or earthly kingdoms.

Throughout Scripture, we are reminded that God alone controls the times and the seasons. “And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings” (Daniel 2:21, KJV). No man can force God’s hand, and no nation can manipulate prophecy. The idea that any political movement can bring about the Second Coming of Christ is not only theologically flawed—it’s dangerously arrogant.

Yes, the Bible does give us signs. Wars, rumors of wars, deception, and apostasy are all part of the picture (Matthew 24). And indeed, we see many of those signs today. But none of them give license for men to engineer the end. God is not a puppet of human ambition. He is the Alpha and Omega, and His plan will unfold on His perfect schedule.

To those who say they are “bringing in the Kingdom,” we must remember the words of Jesus: “My kingdom is not of this world” (John 18:36). The Lord does not need a vote to return. He does not require a government’s approval to reign. In fact, Scripture warns against those who preach another gospel or manipulate prophecy for personal or political gain (Galatians 1:6-9; 2 Peter 2:1-3).

Instead of trying to control the timeline, our role is to watch, to pray, and to live faithfully—spreading the gospel, loving our neighbors, and keeping our lamps burning bright for His return. Whether the hour is near or still afar off, our calling remains unchanged: to trust Him, not men.

The End Times are coming—but they will come in God’s time, not ours. And when they do, every knee shall bow, not to a politician, but to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords (Philippians 2:10-11).

I invite you to continue to watch and know of the signs relating to His coming. Do this with the faith that God is in control. He will make things happen under His terms and agenda. There is peace knowing that our Commander is in charge of the end-times.
